I really couldn't have been more disappointed with this take on Death Note. Netflix really ruined it for me. I will say that at least, Ryuk, was done very well. He was scary, and played perfectly by William Dafoe. They portrayed Ryuk as a very evil entity, even more so than the manga/anime.
Light was not the cold and calculating sociopath he should have been, he was instead a weak and inconsistent coward.
L was corny and much less strong-willed than his anime counter.
The movie overall felt rushed, and as much as I like the idea of a anime-turned-live-action, it rarely seems to work out.
